George Campanis
Head Coach
The Legacy Head Coach grew up in South Africa. With more than 30 years of experience coaching fighters, George has both a passion for the sport and exceptional experience in the professional ranks. His father, a legendary boxing coach in his native South Africa, groomed him to be a professional boxing coach from an early age. As a coach, George took his first professional fighter into the ring when he was 17 years old. He has coached many professional champions over the years. By the age of 21 he had coached a professional boxer (Mark Cameron) to fight for the WBO World Middleweight Title against Chris Pyatt in London, England. He most recently coached Jonas Jonas of Namibia, who won the Gold Medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia; Jonas also fought at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics. He also recently coached the professional IBF All Africa Lightweight Champion (Danny Boy Felesianu, record 20–2–1), and took Fillemon Nghutenanye — the current WBO #9 — into the professional ranks in 2017.
George has a passion for the sport and believes boxing is both an art and a science. He sees boxing as a way of developing character, confidence and discipline. His fundamental approach is to teach his boxers to hit, but not get hit — focusing heavily on the art of counter-punching and defense.
